When the varicose veins in the anus and rectum area swell this condition is called hemorrhoid. This inflammation can be with or without pain. The appearance of a hemorrhoid depends on several factors like skin color, their size, whether it is inside or outside the rectum and whether there is any infection or not. They normally appear like a pea and the color may be pink, red, brown or purple.
