Preparing for New Years Eve with Holiday Crafts to Decorate Your Party

By Gail Leino

One of the most widely and wildly celebrated holidays in the United States in New Years Eve, and many people have huge parties or attend national parties that rave on long into the night and early hours of the following morning. When you are having a party, there is no better way to prepare with decorations and get into the mood than to create themed crafts as decorations for the party.

For New Years Eve, most decorations will have something to do with the coming year; for example, the theme for December 31, 2006 was "07". One craft that can decorate your party would be large wall hangings that you've cut from art paper that are reminding people into what year they are heading. Choose the color themes for your party - perhaps blue and silver or green and gold, as an example - and make your cutouts from these colors.

Another way to craft items to celebrate New Years Eve is to make sure that as many of your party appetizers as possible are shaped to commemorate the New Year that is coming. Cut out cookies in the shape of the year to come, have a cake baked by a specialty shop in the same shape, and have open-faced sandwiches or burgers in which the condiments are shaped to reflect the upcoming year.

New Years Eve can be a lot of fun any way you look at it, but if you create crafts to go along with your major celebrations, you'll really ring in the New Year with a bang and a fun loving attitude.
